Pittsfield High Bowlers Atop Berkshire League Standings
PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Colby Rooney led the Pittsfield High bowling team to a sweep on Friday at Ken's Bowl as the Generals took a big lead atop the Berkshire County High School Bowling League Standings.
Rooney rolled the day's best game, a 223, and helped Pittsfield take a 3-0 decision from Mount Everett that gives the Generals an 8-1 record after three league competitions this winter.
Each week, eight teams in the nine-team league are matched up with three points on the line: two for each of two full five-player matches and one for a Baker format match where teams of five bowlers alternate frames (each bowler taking two frames by the end of the match).
Rooney rolled a 163 in his second game for a 386 series that was the third best two-game score recorded on the day.
The best series of the week belonged to Wahconah's Austin Doyle, who helped the Wahconah Blue team salvage a point in their match against Drury, which prevailed, 2-1.
The Blue Devils got a pair of 201 games on Friday, one each from Justyn Cowell and Michael Oakes.
Drury finished the day tied for second in the league standings with Taconic, which took a 2-1 decision from McCann Tech behind Sarah Hover.
Hover rolled a high game of 200 and a 381 series -- both second best on the week among girls competing.
The top girls score of the day belonged to McCann Tech's Aleasia Yeaton, who rolled a 220 and a 171 for a 391 series that ranked second among all bowlers at Friday's competition.
Friday's other match was a 2-1 win for the Wahconah Grey, which edged Lee, 2-1. Amber Lockenwitz led the Wahconah Grey with a 304 series. Anthony Delsoldato rolled a 189-152--341 for Lee.
