Pittsfield Boys Tennis Overcomes Challenge from Lee
PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Pittsfield boys tennis team Wednesday swept the singles competition en route to a 4-1 win over Lee.
"Pittsfield's veteran players produced a win against a younger Lee squad with a lot of talent," Pittsfield coach Daniel Sullivan said.
Adam Quinto and Brian Lavinio won in straight sets at first and second singles, respectively.
At No. 3, seventh-grader Cooper Maloney of Lee gave the Generals' Cole Masiero one of his stiffest challenge of the season, Sullivan said, before Masiero prevailed, 6-3, 7-6.
Liam Fitzgibbons and Tom Rindfuss picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win for Pittsfield at first doubles.
At No. 2 doubles, Lee's Mason Mihlek and Cam Tyer won, 2-6, 6-2, 14-12 (super tiebreak).
The Generals (7-0) go to Mount Everett on Thursday.
