Diehl, Aitken Lead Pittsfield Girls to Track and Field Wins
CHESHIRE, Mass. — Cami Diehl and Sarah Aitken were double winners on Tuesday to lead the Pittsfield girls track and field team to a pair of dual meet wins over Drury and Hoosac Valley.
The Pittsfield boys also prevailed in their duals against the Blue Devils and host Hurricanes in the first dual meet action of the spring.
On the girls side, Diehl won the 800 meters in 2 minutes, 43.25 seconds and the mile in 6:04.18.
Aitken won the long jump (13 feet, 11.75 inches) and the triple jump (31-04).
Hoosac Valley's Shaleigh Levesque swept the hurdles, taking the 100 in 18.04 seconds and the 400 in 1:11.62.
Drury's girls picked up a win in the javelin, where Laura Thomas was more than 17 feet ahead of the field with a through of 108-2.
Pittsfield's boys dominated the sprints, where Emmanuel Nda led 1-2-3 finishes in the 100 and 200 for the Generals. Nda hit the tape in 11.25 in the 100 and 23.42 in the 200. David Kankam (53.31) and Patrick Silva (2:27.82) led 1-2-3 Pittsfield sweeps in the 400 and 800, respectively.
Kankam also picked up a win in the high jump, clearing 5 feet, 10 inches.
Hoosac Valley's Nicholas Alibozek was a double-winner in the jumps, taking the long jump in 17-8.25 and the triple jump in 35-9.5.
For the Drury boys, the top finishers were Caleb Besaw, who finished second to Pittsfield's Emmanuel Brown in the mile, and Quinn O'Connor, who was second to Pittsfield's Kevin D'Aniello in the 110 hurdles.
