Monument's Henry, Lenox's Jourdain Victorious

LENOX, Mass. -- Monument Mountain junior Jared Henry led four Spartans in the top 10 in a five-team cross country meet at Lenox Memorial on Wednesday.
 
Henry finished in 18 minutes, 54 seconds, setting a 6:05 mile pace, to finish 12 seconds ahead of runner-up Ted Yee of the host Millionaires.
 
On the girls side, Lenox dominated the meet led by Emma Jourdain, who placed first in 19:29.
 
Backing up Henry in the boys race were his teammates Michael Goretti, Ethan Mazursky and Scott Larochelle, who placed fourth, seventh and 10th respectively.
 
Lenox’s Yee was joined in the top 10 by teammates Colin Young and Ely Carroll in fifth and sixth, respectively, and Ryan Silverstein in ninth. Wahconah had two top 10 finishers: Chris Campos (19:16) in third and Dan Brainerd in eighth.
 
Lee’s Sebastien Dowd-Smith just missed the top 10; he came in 11th in 20:12. Hoosac Valley’s Nolan Christen was 15th in 20:40.
 
Jourdain finished more than a minute ahead of the rest of the field in the girls race.
 
That field included four of her Lenox teammates in the top 10. Maggie Sorrentino, Marion Huth and Ellen Huth were second through fourth; Alice Huth placed ninth.
 
The first non-Millionaire across the finish line was Monument’s Meryl Phair (21:27) in fifth. Her teammates, Jasmin Johannsdottir and Maeven Broderick were sixth and eighth, respectively.
 
Wahconah had two top 10 finishers: Gabrielle Orlando (21:39) in seventh and Katerina Bruce (22:06) in 10th.
 
Hoosac’s Jamie Barth finished 11th in 22:10. Lee was led by Amber MacDowell (22:59) in 16th place.
