Mount Greylock Third at Taconic Invitational

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Three Mount Greylock wrestlers Saturday reached the finals of their weight class to lead the Mounties to a third-place finish at the Taconic Invitational.

 

Mount Greylock finished with 134 points behind team champion Wayland (263.5 points) and runner-up Ludlow (194.5).

 

Mounties Jacob Borawski (175 pounds), Jayquan Vazquez (190) and Logan O'Connell (215) each reached the title bout in his weight class.

 

All four Berkshire County schools were in the 16-team field at Taconic for the event.

 

The host Thunder earned one of the county's two individual titles.

 

At 144 pounds, West Dews used two first-period pins to reach the final, where he beat Wayland's Michael Keenan in a major decision, 13-2.

 

Mount Everett's Diego Cruz won the 113-pound title. He advanced with three first-period pins to face East Longmeadow's Noah Rushford. Cruz earned a technical fall over Rushford, stopping the bout early in the second period with a 16-0 score.
