LENOX, Mass. – Ben Vella placed third overall at Lenox High on Wednesday to lead the Mount Everett boys cross country team to a pair of dual meet wins.

The Eagles knocked off Lee and edged Monument Mountain by one point.

The Spartans once again had the fastest runner in the field, Everett Pacheco, who finished in 17 minutes, 51 seconds to place 1:11 ahead of runner-up Samuel Gellar of Lenox and help the Spartans get a dual win over Lee.

Lenox’s boys were the big winners in the duals on their home course, taking wins over Monument Mountain, Mount Everett and Lee.

The Millionaires took places four through nine in the 49-runner boys field with Owen Ames leading the way in fourth place.

Lee was led by Noah Hassmer, who placed 21st overall.

On the girls side, Lenox also won three duals after splitting most of the top 20 finishes with Monument Mountain.

Only two runners not wearing Lenox or Monument colors finished in the top 20.

Just like at Berkshire Community College in the opener, Amelia Desilets (21:34) and Rae Geddes finished 1-2 for the Spartans.

The next five places belonged to Lenox, with Elyssa Scrimo finishing third to lead the Millionaires to a five-point win over Monument Mountain.

The Spartans did beat Lee and Mount Everett, which did not have a team score.
