Mount Greylock's Hoey Sets School Record, Leads Team to Two Wins

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Chase Hoey set a Mount Greylock school record in the high jump and was one of three double-winners for the Mounties in a four-team track and field meet at Monument Mountain on Tuesday.

 

Hoey cleared 5 feet, 6 inches, to set the standard for her school in the event.

 

She also won the triple jump with a mark of 32-3.

 

Her Mount Greylock teammate Katherine Goss swept the hurdles, and the Mounties’ Lily Catelotti won the shot put and discus as Mount Greylock earned dual meet wins over Pittsfield and the host Spartans.

 

Pittsfield’s girls beat Mount Everett behind double-winner Dezerea Powell, who took the 100 meters and the long jump.

 

For Monument Mountain, Rae Geddes won the mile to pace her team to a dual win over Mount Everett. The Spartans quartet also took the 4-by-800 meter relay in one of the day’s most exciting finishes as they edged Mount Greylock by a mere. .19 seconds.

 

Mount Greylock’s boys joined the girls in taking two dual wins on Tuesday.

 

On the track, the Mounties swept the relays. In the field, Judge Martin won the shot put and discus.

 

For Pittsfield, Aidan D’Aniello took the 110 hurdles and 400 hurdles as the Generals beat Mount Everett.

 

Monument Mountain had the day’s only triple winner as Oliver Berkowitz took the 200 meters, the long jump and the triple jump.
