Monument Mountain Boys, Lenox Girls Take Victories

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Monument Mountain’s Kitson Stover Monday skied to a first-place finish that kept his team firmly atop the Berkshire County Alpine Ski League standings.

 

Stover clocked a time of 45.19 seconds in a slalom race at Bousquet Mountain to edge Taconic’s Keeghen Scott for the top spot on the podium.

 

Stover’s teammates Declan Logan, Bronly Boyd and Noah Stover rounded out the team scoring to give Monument Mountain its fourth first-place finish in five races this winter and a three-point lead on the field heading into next Monday’s season finale.

 

In the girls team race, just two points separate the top three teams with one meet left on the schedule.

 

Lenox was the team winner on Monday, enabling the Millionaires to grab a two-point margin on Monument Mountain and Pittsfield, who are tied for second place.

 

Madison DiGrigoli led the way for the Millionaires on Monday with a second place finish. Ella Hall was right behind her in third.

 

The top racer on the mountain on Monday was Pittsfield’s Eliza Mullen, who overcame a hairy moment nine gates from the bottom to pull out a time of 43.97 seconds.

 

“I was able to recover it,” Mullen said of the slight miscue. “It’s a pretty fast course. The snow is really good. And I was able to make up the time with how I skied at the top of the course and just come off the line at the bottom on the flats to get the speed back.

 

“It was a little scary. I had to make a big recovery. But it was good.”

 

Mullen’s teammate Grace Ungewitter placed fourth to help the Generals finish second on the night.

 

The Spartans were third behind the trio of Grace Soule, Sophia Curletti and Loghan Strzepa, who placed fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively.
