Monument Mountain Girls Place 13th at State Meet

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Monument Mountain senior Zoe Holmes placed sixth in the 100-yard butterfly Saturday to highlight the Spartans' 13th-place finish at the Division 2 State Championships.

 

Holmes touched the wall in 59.40 seconds in a event won by Seekonk's Addison Abreu in 57.01.

 

Holmes' performance in the fly gave the Spartans 13 team points. She also pointed as an individual in the 200 individual medley, where she placed 14th.

 

Holmes teamed with Keaghan Kline, Lily McDonald and Helen Thorp to place sixth in the 400 freestyle relay.

 

Holmes, Annabel Holmes, McDonald and Kline joined for a ninth-place finish in the 200 free relay.

 

Monument Mountain finished with 71 team points. Marblehead placed first with 241 points.

 

Taconic's and Pittsfield's girls finished with nine and eight points, respectively.

 

Taconic's Mia Zuccalo placed ninth in the 100 breaststroke, touching in 1:10.78.

 

Her teammate Mia Bencivenga was 21st in the state in the 500 free.

 

For Pittsfield, Kiera Devine pointed as an individual in the 500, placing 15th in 5:33.36.

 

Devine also swam on Pittsfield's 200 free relay quartet, teaming with Riley Steinman, Hailey Rumlow and Jackie Roccabruna to place 14th.
