Monument Mountain Girls Continue Dominance

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Kitson Stover won two giant slalom races Monday at Bousquet to lead the Monument Mountain alpine ski team to a pair of wins to keep the Spartans on top of the very competitive Berkshire County League boys season standings.

 

Monument Mountain’s girls also took a pair of wins to continue their dominance of the girls league race.

 

Stover won the night’s first race with a time of 32.58 seconds and shaved more than a tenth of a second off his time in his second run.

 

He helped the Spartans finish more than four seconds ahead of the field, along with Julian Beadell’s third-place finish.

 

In the girls race on Monday, Pittsfield High’s Grace Ungewitter was a double-winner, taking the first race in 35.19 seconds and the second in 34.59.

 

The Monument Mountain girls were double team winners behind second-place finishes in each race by Grace Soule.

 

In the night’s first race, the Spartans took second through sixth places among the girls.

 

Through four races this winter, Monument Mountain’s girls are five points ahead of the rest of the league after winning the top spot in four straight weeks.

 

Monument Mountain’s boys lead the way in their season standings by a slim one point ahead of Lenox with Wahconah just two points out of first place.
