Monument Mountain Girls Go 4-0 on Home Course

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Kellie Harrington and Grace Ungewitter placed first and second respectively Wednesday to lead the Pittsfield girls to a pair of one-point dual meet wins, but the big winners were the hosts from Monument Mountain in a five-team meet.

 

Harrington finished in 19 minutes, 41.61 seconds, setting a 6:20 mile pace. Ungewitter was second in 22:07.19 to help the Generals beat Taconic, 27-28, and Wahconah, 28-29.

 

The host Spartans edged Pittsfield in their dual by a score of 25-33 on their way to a 4-0 day in dual meets.

 

Monument Mountain's Rae Geddes, Zoe Holmes and Aria Grossman finished in the top 10 to lead the Spartans.

 

Wahconah's girls picked up a win over Taconic behind Natylee Martin's sixth-place finish.

 

The Thunder beat Hoosac Valley with fourth-place Lily Powell leading the way for Taconic. The Hurricanes' Hannah Walsh placed fifth.

 

In the boys race, Wahconah ran to three wins and no losses behind the trio of Riley Gladu, Lucas Wildrick and Cadighan Gladu, who placed second, third and fourth, respectively.

 

Wahconah's closest win of the day came against Monument Mountain, which was led by first-year Everett Pacheco, who crossed the line in 16:49.33 to place first overall.

 

Monument Mountain took three dual meet wins on its home course, as Lucas Faggioni and Andrew Larochelle backed up Pacheco with sixth- and seventh-place finishes.

 

Taconic's boys beat rival Pittsfield in their dual meet behind a 10th-place showing by the Thunder's Donovan Dubois. Pittsfield was led by Asa Chard, who placed fifth.

 

Hoosac Valley's boys did not field a full team, but eighth-grader Noah Sawtelle represented the Hurricanes with a time of 29:53.50.
