Monument Boys Win PVIAC/Berkshire County Meet

SHELBURNE FALLS, Mass. -- Monument Mountain's Connor Storti won the 200 meters and placed second in the 100 meters to lead the Spartans to the team championship at Saturday's PVIAC/Berkshire County Division 2 championships at Mohawk Trail Regional High School.

 

Storti ran the 200 in 23.21 seconds to nip Putnam Voc's Javeon Richardson (23.90).

 

In the 100, Storti finished in 11.45, two one-hundredths of a second behind winner Alan Provost of Monson.

 

Monument's boys ran away with the team title, compiling 134 points -- well ahead of second-place Mohawk (69 points). Hoosac Valley and Wahconah finished third and fourth, respectively.

 

Hoosac's Trevor Ciempa won the 800 meters in 2:00.18, edging Monument's Jesse Arevalo (2:00.84), and Ciempa won the high jump with a mark of 5 feet, 10 inches. Jason Laramee won the high jump in 6-2.

 

Travis Ciempa of Hoosac won the two-mile run with a time of 9:35.69, beating Monument's Weyssa McAlister (9:37.12).

McAlister led a 1-2-3 finish for Berkshire County in the mile. He won in 4:32.57 ahead of Mount Greylock's Carter Stripp (4:36.72) and Monument's Aidan Newey (4:43.46).

 

Wahconah's Marcus Duncan won the 400 dash in 50.55, ahead of Mohawk's Lucas Purington (52.09).

 

In the girls competition, Mohawk took top honors with 93 points, ahead of runner-up Frontier with 88. Mount Greylock was the top Berkshire County finisher; it came in fifth with 59 points.

 

Mounties senior Emily Kaegi won the mile in 5:13.68. She was chased across the line by Hoosac Valley's Megan Rodowicz (5:23.78). Rodowicz won the girls 800 in 2:22.00, ahead of Frontier's Sarah Conlisk (2:25.36).

 

Greylock's Jenna Phelps just missed the top of the podium in the 100 hurdles. Frontier's Mairead Ferry won the event in 16.20; Phelps finished in 16.34.
