Stone Fourth in Fly, Monument Girls Relays Excel at State Meet

Stone touched in 58.65 seconds in an event won by Grafton senor Samantha Kilcoyne in 55.41.
Stone also placed seventh in the 100 backstroke, coming in in 1:00.62, more than a second below her seed time of 1:01.70. Kilcoyne also won that event, in 58.23.
The Spartans earned a fourth-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay and 400 free relay
In the 200 FR, Monument Mountain's quartet of Maddie Fife, Olivia Rubino, Anna Rubino and Aubrey Blanchard touched in 1:41.42.
That relay was won by Westford Academy in a meet record time of 1:37.34.
Westford also won the 400 FR, in 3:36.41. Monument's Blanchard, Olivia Rubino, Anna Rubino and Stone teamed up to place fourth in 3:42.48, nearly three full seconds under their seed time of 3:45.47.
Stone, Ashley Wellenkamp, Blanchard and Fife teamed up to place 10th in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:57.57, also nearly three seconds below Monument's seed time (2:00.55).
As a team, the Spartans placed seventh in the state with 101 points. Westford led the 36-team field with 439.5 points.
In the Division 2 girls meet, Pittsfield High's Jordan Bradford competed in the 200 free, where she earned team points by placing 14th with a time of 2:03.25.
At Sunday's boys D2 meet, Pittsfield's Isaac Boyd swam two events.
He placed eighth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:02.29, more than two seconds below his seed time but well back of Wayland's Jiming Xu, who won in 59.05.
Boyd was 10th in the 200 individual medley, touching in 2:03.06, a whopping 7.5 seconds faster than his seed time. Westborough's Justin Papagelis won in 1:55.56.
Monument Mountain's boys competed in the Division 1 state meet.
Spartans senior Nick Dillon earned a team point with his 16th-place showing in the 100 butterfly (55.29). Dillon also swam a time of 1:04.36 in the 100 breaststroke.
He swam the anchor leg on Monument's 400 free relay quartet (3:40.95) along with Ethan Dean, Jack Glantz and Harry Albert.
