Two County Wrestlers Finish Second at States

WAKEFIELD, Mass. — Mount Everett's Bradley Lupiani and Monument Mountain's Jonah Christianson earned second place in their respective weight classes at the state Division 3 wrestling championships on Wednesday at Wakefield High School.
Christianson advanced to the final when his opponent was forced to default due to injuries in the 220-pound semi-finals. In the championship match, Wakefield's Alex Kane pinned Christianson at the four-minute mark.
Lupiani reached the final at 113 with a 10-7 win over Danvers' Chris Davis but dropped a narrow, 3-2 decision to Holliston's Kevin Tomasetti in the final round.
Mount Greylock's Ross Jackson (182 pounds) was pinned in the second period of the championship semifinal, ending his school's hopes for an individual titlist, but the Mounties ended up Berkshire County's highest finishers in the team competition with 39.5 points, good for 20th place out of 53 teams.
Pembroke ran away with the team competition with 129 points, well ahead of second-place Norton (102 points).
Mount Greylock's Travis Hilchey ended up going 4-2 at the meet, fighting through the consolation bracket to reach the consolation finals at 126, where he lost to Foxboro's Austin Gutierez, 7-2.
Hilchey was Greylock's top finisher, coming in fourth place. Jackson ended up in sixth.
Taconic's Travis Kuni and Tajaye Davis each ended in fifth place at 160 and 285, respectively, with losses in the consolation semifinals.
