SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- The South Hadley girls tennis team Sunday ended Mount Greylock’s run in the Western Massachusetts Division 3 tournament with a 4-1 decision in the quarter-finals.

Isabel Northington earned the point for ninth-seeded Mount Greylock, which finished the season with a record of 7-7.

Northington beat the Tigers’ Caroline Robitaille, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 1 singles.

“Isabel finished off an undefeated team play season,” Mount Greylock coach John Jacobbe said. “Her only loss came in the individual tournament to the No. 1 seed [Longmeadow’s Iris Gallo].”

Josie Dalsin and Charlotte Sanford lost in straight sets at Nos. 2 and 3 singles, respectively.

At first doubles, Emma Stankiewicz and Orianna Van Slycke dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision. At No. 2 doubles, Mia Van Deurzen and Hannah Gilooly lost, 4-6, 6-2, (13-11).

“Hannah and Mia played an outstanding match and just came up short,” Jacobbe said. “They probably would have won the third set if we played it out.”

No. 1 South Hadley (17-4) hosts fourth-seeded Lee (12-4) in the semi-finals.
