LEE, Mass. -- Lee’s Thomas Fraser earned medalist honors, but the Mount Greylock golf team managed to outscore Fraser’s Wildcats, 172-175, on Thursday at Greenock Country Club.

Fraser carded a 4-over round of 39 that included birdies on the par-3 second hole and the par-4 ninth.

Mount Greylock was led by Kyle Alvarez, who played opposite Fraser in the No. 1 spot and finished just behind him with a 41.

“This was a wonderful match,” Mount Greylock coach Brian Gill said. “Every individual match except No. 6 had two strokes or less separating the two players.

“While the scores could have been better, the intensity and competitiveness of the match was fantastic. The kids had to respond to each other as well as manage the golf course. It was exciting for everyone.”

Ben Gilooly and Bennett Zimmerman carded 43s, and Mark Hayden scored with a 45 for Mount Greylock.

Lee got 44s from Hunter Roosa and Bryce Whalen and a 48 from Colin Finnegan.

Mount Greylock goes to Taconic on Tuesday.
