Mount Greylock Golfers Start Strong Against Lenox
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Fall sports got under way Thursday afternoon with its first golf match of the season between Mount 
Greylock and Lenox High at Waubeeka Golf Links.

Greylock and Lenox faced each other in the first match of the 2014 season as well, and this time around the Mounties got the win; finishing with a score of 162 to Lenox’s 203.
The Mounties are off to a better start than the beginning of last season, putting coach Brian Gill in good spirits.
“We had Lenox last year first match and we were down at Lenox and ... we lost that match,” Gill said. “It set us back the whole season, just the sense of fighting back and it almost cost us getting into Western Mass where we performed really well.
“So we knew today they would be a little bit down from last year and we knew we would be playing the back nine which is a little bit tougher. So we just wanted them to play safe, play consistent, and, boy, I am ecstatic. To shoot 162 on the back here first time out is pretty awesome.”
The Mounties finished with four birdies; two coming from Matt Wiseman. Ben Gilooly and Lilly Crolius each had one.
Gilooly finished with a score of 38 to earn medalist honors. Wiseman followed with a 40, and Kyle Alvarez and Crolius each scored a 42.
For Lenox, Kevin Coakley birdied the 15th hole and finished with a 48. Lucy Schwartz shot the best score for the Millionaires with a 47, Ricky Armstrong had a 54, as did Matthew Shields.
Looking forward, Mount Greylock is back to the greens of Waubeeka Friday afternoon against Taconic; whether they will be playing the front or back nine is still undetermined, Gill said.
“There are just a few simple things we need to work on; as far as course management and emotion management,” Gill said. “How we approach the game and how we approach the course.”
