HOPEDALE, Mass. – The Hopedale girls tennis team Tuesday survived two three-set matches in singles play to earn a 5-0 win over Mount Greylock in the Division 4 State Tournament Round of 16.

Mount Greylock’s Mia Patrick and Amelia Madrigal each took her opponent to a third set before succumbing.

No. 4 Hopedale (15-2) advances to the state quarter-finals to face Ipswich, a 4-1 winner over Nantucket on Tuesday.

“We lost two three set matches, and first doubles was a very competitive match despite the final score,” Mount Greylock coach John Jabobbe said. “Super proud of this team making it to the finals in western ma and winning a round in the state tournament.”
