Mount Greylock Girls Advance Past Lee

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The 13th-seeded Mount Greylock girls tennis team Wednesday opened the Division 4 State Tournament with a 4-1 win over Lee.
 
Mia Patrick, Emily Oullette and Amelia Madrigal each won in straight sets in singles play, dropping a combined six games between them.
 
“Senior Emily Ouellette played one of her stronger matches of the year winning for the first time this year versus [Lee’s Shaelynn Kelly],” Mount Greylock coach John Jacobbe said.
 
“We will continue to give everything we have moving forward. I don’t know if a coach could be prouder of a team than the team I have this year.”
 
The Mounties got a doubles point from the pairing of Charlotte Towler and Bridget Igoe at first doubles.
 
Lee (9-6) got a point at second doubles from Kelly Molino and Valerie Molino.
 
Mount Greylock (11-5) moves on to the Round of 16, where it will face No. 4 Hopedale, a 5-0 winner over South Hadley on Wednesday.
