Wahconah Girls Knock Off Mounties
PITTSFIELD -- Bethany Houle finished second in the discus and second in the the 3200 meters to help lead the Wahconah Regional High School girls track and field team to a 77-64 win over Mount Greylock on Tuesday afternoon.
It was a day on which the Mounties dominated the first-place finishes, but Wahconah's depth was the difference as it ended Mount Greylock's six-year run without a dual meet loss in Berkshire County.
Wahconah' Mackenzie Rice won the 400 (1 minute, 7.2 seconds) and Logan Gresser won the shot put (25 feet, 11.5 inches).
But the top individual performance in a three-way meet that also featured Taconic was turned in by Mount Greylock's Alex Majetich. She lowered her school record in winning the 100 (12.3) and won the 200 (26.1), long jump (15-3) and triple jump (33-2.5).
Taconic took too individual titles in the throws with Hanna Barbarotta winning the javelin (85-3) and Alyssa Doerle winning the discus (87-3.25).
Mount Greylock's girls outpointed Taconic, 87-53.
Wahconah and Taconic each picked up dual wins against Mount Greylock by scores of 106-35 and 75-66, respectively.
Eric Klem won the mile (4:51) and 800 (2:09.3) for Wahconah.
Taconic's Dom Nda was a triple winner in the triple jump (40-4), long jump (18-3) and 100 (11.2). Mount Greylock's Ryan Benoit won two individual titles: the discus (98-0) and the 110 hurdles (18.5).
