Mount Greylock Girls Dominate at Home
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Mount Greylock girls cross country team made the most of its first home race of the season, taking the top three positions and eighth of the top 10.
Katherine Swann led the way, finishing in 21 minutes, 3.78 seconds. She was followed by teammates Josephine Smith and Ainsley Abel in second and third, respectively.
Taconic’s Ahliya Phillips broke up a run of six straight Mounties across the finish line, placing fourth in 24:06.99. Monument Mountain’s Rae Geddes cracked the top 10; she was eighth in 24:42.77.
The Mount Greylock boys earned a pair of dual meet wins in their home debut, but Wahconah gave them a battle.
Ezra Holzapfel placed second for the Mounties in a time of 19:26.35. The 26-29 dual win over Wahconah was decided by Mount Greylock’s fourth and fifth runners, Ryan Keating, who placed ninth overall, and Rafael Mellow-Bartels, who was 10th overall.
Wahconah had three boys in the top 10, led by Riley Gladu (19:33.83) and Lucas Wildrick in third and fourth, respectively.
Hoosac Valley’s Justin Levesque was the top boy, beating the field by nearly half a minute with a time of 19:00.98.
Taconic earned a pair of dual meet wins behind a fifth-place run by Cam Bencivenga (20:08.97).
