Mount Greylock Boys, Girls Cross Country Teams Place Second in New York Meet
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Mount Greylock's Grace Malone placed second to lead her team to a second-place finish in the Division 2 Varsity race at the Queensbury Invitational on Saturday at Saratoga Spa State Park.
The Mounties' boys also placed second in their D2 Varsity race.
Malone finished the 5-kilometer course in 19 minutes, 39.42 seconds, 10 seconds beyond winner Mariem Sayahi of Voorheesville (19:29.73).
Mount Greylock's Kate Swann placed fourth in 20:09.70.
The Mounties finished with 89 team points, placing second in the 15-team field.
Voorheesville won the girls D2 title with 44 points.
Oliver Swabey paced the Mount Greylock boys with an eighth-place finish. He crossed the line in 18:16.06. The individual crown went to Albany Academy's Joseph Simeone (16:59.51).
Mount Greylock placed five runners in the top 25. Ezra Holzapfel and Andrew Petropulos placed 15th and 16th, resepectively.
The Mounties finished with 64 points to finish second in a 17-team field behind D2 champ Averill Park (36 points).
