Mount Greylock's VanDeurzen Advances at Sectional Tourney

LONGMEADOW, Mass. -- Mount Greylock’s Mia VanDeursen won twice on Saturday to advance to Sunday’s quarter-final round at the MIAA West Sectional Individuals tournament.

 

VanDeursen defeated Frontier’s Mary Lauren, 6-2, 6-3, in their opening round match and then topped Amherst’s Rebekah Hong, 6-1, 6-1.

 

VanDeursen’s teammate Charlotte Sanford went 1-1 on Saturday, beating Minnechaug’s Grace Coopee, 6-1, 6-2, before dropping a 6-0, 6-1 decision to Longmeadow’s Sadie Ehrenberg, the No. 2-seeded player in the field.
