Mount Greylock Volleyball Drops Heart-Breaker at West Springfield

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The Mount Greylock volleyball team took Division 2 West Springfield to a fifth set before falling on the road on Friday.
 
The Mounties had a 2-1 lead before the host Terriers pulled out a dramatic 30-28 win in the fourth set to stay in the match.
 
In the fifth set, played to 15, Mount Greylock was tied, 8-8 before West Side went on a little run to take control and win the match, 20-25, 25-12, 17-25, 30-28, 15-10.
 
“Mount Greylock and West Springfield battled for every point in the match with most of the rallies lasting four or more times across the net,” Mounties coach Greg Geyer said.
 
Autumn Delorey had six kills and five blocks, and Maddie Albert had 17 assists and five kills. Caroline Hadley added six kills, and Lucy Shepard contributed five aces to go along with her six kills.
 
Alyssa Phelps had a team-high six aces in the loss.
 
Mount Greylock goes to Taconic on Monday.
