Mount Greylock Boys, Girls First at Wahconah

DALTON, Mass. -- Depth was key for the Mount Greylock boys Nordic team in an easy victory Sunday in the second Berkshire County League meet of the season.
The Mounties placed six skiers in the top 10, scoring four in the top seven to beat the field by 30 points at Wahconah High School.
On the girls side, for the second straight meet, the Mounties were a perfect 10, scoring the first four skiers across the finish line and taking eight of the top 10 to dominate the field.
Mount Greylock's boys earned their second straight solid win in the team standings, but Northfield Mount Hermon's Adam Carlisle was the top individual, covering the 3.6-mile course in 18 minutes, 49 seconds and coming home just ahead of runner-up Jakin Miller of Mount Greylock (18:53).
Mountie Ric Donati was third, followed by a pair of Amherst Hurricanes, Willy Wright (19:33) and Luke Sedor Protti.
Corban Miller and Col McDermott rounded out the scoring for the Mount Greylock boys.
Hoosac Valley's Corben Craig (21:10) cracked the top 10 in ninth place. Lenox's Ted Lee (21:30) was just outside the top 10 in 11th.
Host Wahconah got a 20th-place finish from Zack McCain (22:06).
The top girl again was Mount Greylock's Brandi Gill, who finished in 22:58. She was followed across the finish line by teammates Helen Greenfield, Lilliana Wells, Hazel Scullin and Jackie Wells.
Wahconah's Gabby Orlando was the first non-Mountie, finishing sixth in 24:21.
Lenox's girls, who finished second with 41 points, were led by Maggie Sorrentino (24:53) in eighth place.
Hoosac Valley's Mia Gale (25:51) finished 13th. Taconic was led by Mary Hayes (30:01) in 33rd place.
