Miller Time Gives Wahconah Boys Win
CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Nathan MIller placed 16th overall at Wednesday's cross country meet at Hoosac Valley High School.
But his performance gave Wahconah a dual meet win over Taconic and a 2-0 day.
Miller was the sixth Wahconah runner across the finish line, and when the matchup of the teams’ top five finishers ended in a 28-28 tie, the sixth runners were used as a tie-breaker, and Miller’s time of 21 minutes, 56.03 seconds made the difference for Wahconah, which also earned a dual meet win over Hoosac Valley, which had no team score.
Hoosac Valley senior Justin Levesque defended his home course in his final high school meet, placing first overall in a time of 18:07.18, 51 seconds ahead of the field.
Taconic’s Cam Bencivenga placed second in 18:58.74.
Lee’s Josh Perrier (19:13.34) and Aiden Fennelly were third and fourth, respectively, as the Wildcats earned a dual win over Hoosac Valley.
Cooper Calvert led the Wahconah boys with a fifth-place finish, crossing the line in 19:52.17.
Lee’s girls won a dual meet victory over Hoosac Valley in the only contested girls dual as Anna Martin (23:04.88) led a pack of four Wildcats in the top six.
Emily Holian, Brianna Kelly and Emma Ranzoni placed third, fourth and sixth, respectively.
Taconic’s Ahliya Phillips crossed the finish line 22 seconds ahead of the field with a time of 22:42.04.
The Hurricanes were led by Hannah Walsh, who placed fifth in 24:31.57.
