Wahconah Golfers Place Three in 30s to Cruise Past Mount Greylock
DALTON, Mass. -- It was open season on birdies for the Wahconah golf team on Thursday as they beat par seven times and beat Mount Greylock, 156-166, on the front nine at Wahconah Country Club.
Dan Wilson earned medalist honors, getting birdies on Nos. 5 and 6 on his way to a 2-over-par 37.
Pat McClaughlin birdied twice to finish one stroke behind his teammate with a 38.
All six Wahconah players finished at 44 or better, and Tim Kaley, Bryce Denault and Brady Breitmaier each recorded a birdie on No. 7.
"Putting 3 players in the 30s is exciting and encouraging for the future," Wahconah coach Pete Terpak said. "Pat and Dan have played well all year, but today was about Tim Kaley.
"Really happy for Tim, he played great and broke 40 for the first time. Big milestone for my 8th-grader, big things to come for this young man."
Kaley scored with a 39 for Wahconah, which also scored a 42 from Cam Lewis.
Mount Greylock was led by Alexander Axt with a 39. He also birdied the 456-yard, par5 seventh hole, which gave up six birdies to the 12 players, including Axt's teammate, Cayden Conry.
The Mounties' Owen Petropulos got his day started with a birdie on No. 1 and finished at 41. Ben Prescott matched that score with a 41, and Mount Greylock scored a 45 from Thomas Art.
