Hoosac Boys, Lenox Girls Earn Wins on Track
CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Matt Provost won the 100 meter hurdles, 400 hurdles, javelin and discus to lead the Hoosac Valley boys track and field team to a 105-36 win over Lenox on Friday afternoon.
Provost edged teammate Nate Jette in the 100 hurdles by a margin of 18.6 seconds to 18.8. In the 400, Provost prevailed over Lenox's Matt Rudzinska by a second with a time of 1:07.
Provost threw the javelin 104 feet, 5 inches and the discus 115-9.
Trevor Ciempa was a double winner for Hoosac Valley in the high jump (6-0) and the 800 (2:07).
Lenox got individual wins from Philippe Mortelliti in the 1600 (4:42) and Ben Herrick in the 400 (53.4).
Lenox's girls beat Hoosac, 98-43, with Shannon Meisberger leading the way.
She won the high jump (4-8), the long jump (16-9), the 100 hurdles (16.7) and the 400 hurdles (1:07).
Amber Shove backed up Meisberger with wins in the 100 (13.0) and the 200 (27.5).
Hoosac Valley got individual wins from Jamie Barthe in the 3200 (12:09) and Ashton Goyette in the javelin (84-5).
