Nordic Squads Ski in Finale at Wahconah

McDermott sped around the Wahconah High course in 17 minutes, 47 seconds, 31 seconds ahead of the field, and led the Mounties to a 28-point win over second-place Hoosac Valley.
In the girls race, Wells was well ahead of the field, finishing in 20:32. Runner-up and teammate Lily McDermott was 2:39 back in 23:11.
Elizabeth Dupras and Lainey Gill finished third and fourth, respectively, to give the Mounties the top four spots as they finished with a perfect 10 to beat host Wahconah.
Hoosac Valley did not post a team score on the girls side, but Vienna Mahar was the first non-Mountie across the finish line, coming home in 23:35. Wahconah senior Haley Crosier placed fifth in 23:44.
The day’s best team race was for second place on the boys side, where the Hurricanes edged Wahconah by two points behind a third-place finish by Justin Levesque (19:32).
Wahconah’s boys were led once again by Fritz Sanders, who finished in 10th place in 21:08.
