Taconic Takes Over First Place in County League
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Parker Maguire rolled a 201 game on Friday to lead the Taconic bowling team to a 3-0 win over Lee in a showdown for first place in the Berkshire County High School Bowling League.
Abby Bliss had a two-game series of 281, and Kyla Croshier rolled a 254 series to back up Maguire in action at King Pins.
The victory gave the Thunder a three-point lead in the standings with one regular season date and a week of positional play before the county championship is decided on Valentine's Day at K&M in Pittsfield.
In the loss, Lee got strong performances from Devyn Fillio and Hailey Hankey. Fillio rolled a 198 game and 379 series that were best among the girls on Friday. Hankey posted a 171 game.
Friday's other varsity games saw Drury sweep Pittsfield and Monument Mountain earn a 2-1 win over McCann Tech.
Drury got another big day from Zach Mongeon, who rolled a 227 game and 434 series.
But the day's best scores were turned in by Jamari Carnute of PHS. Carnute rolled games of 255 and 212 for a 467 series that is the best in the league this winter.
The Spartans' win over the Hornets kept Monument Mountain in third place in the league standings.
Monument was led by Steve Woodard with a 365 series.
