PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Sean O’Neill carded a 1-under 34 on Thursday to earn medalist honors and lead the East Longmeadow golf team to a 143-154 win over Taconic at Berkshire Hills Country Club.

O’Neill recorded an eagle on the par-5 fourth hole and made just one bogey to finish the day in the red.

One day after falling by just two strokes in a league match at Lee, the Thunder played some of its best golf of the season, despite the loss.

“This was our first time in a match with all four scores under 40,” Taconic coach Matt Capeless said. “Some great shooting today at Berkshire Hills by both teams.”

Taconic’s Charley Driscoll and Simon Mele each birdied the par-3 fifth hole. Mitch Hall birdied No. 4 on his way to a 38, which tied Gavin Maffuccio for the team low.

The Thunder (3-4) travels to face Hoosac Valley on Friday.

Taconic (154)
Mitch Hall 38; Gavin Maffuccio 38; Charley Driscoll 39; Jason Fields 39.
