PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Mitch Hall Thursday carded a 2-over 37 on the front nine at Berkshire Hills Country Club to lead the Taconic golf team to a 161-211 win over Hoosac Valley in the Thunder's season opener.

Hall birdied the par-five fourth hole to highlight his medalist performance.

Taconic also got round in the 40s four of its six starters and 10 of 12 Thunder players on the course.

"We did a great job protecting our home course," Taconic coach Matt Capeless said. "We have been playing well at practice this season so it was great to see that translate into an early season win.

"We have a lot of depth on our squad. Practices have been very competitive, which is great, and makes it difficult to set an 6 player lineup."

Zach Mongeon carded a 41 that included a birdie on the par-5 second hole to lead Hoosac Valley.

The Hurricanes (0-2) go to Lee on Wednesday.

Taconic (1-0) hosts Wahconah on Wednesday.

Taconic (161)
Mitch Hall 37; Ayden Anderson 50; Gavin Maffuccio 41; Simon Mele 41; Jason Fields 42; Charley Driscoll, 45.

Hoosac Valley (211)
