Area Track Teams Compete at Niskayuna Meet

ROTTERDAM, N.Y. -- Wahconah's Payton Shippee and Alex Perenick were among the county's top finishers at the Niskayuna Track and Field Classic on Saturday at Mohonasen High School.

Shippee took third place in the discus with a throw of 143 feet, 2 inches, 15 feet behind winner Thomas McConnellee of Cobleskill, N.Y.

Perenick finished third in the 400 meter hurdles, hitting the line in 60.15 seconds. Queensbury, N.Y.'s, Samuel Demers won the event in 58.84.

Mount Greylock, Taconic and Pittsfield also sent teams to the event.

Taconic's Josh Stevens placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 46-1.

Mount Greylock's Chase Doyle qualified for the finals in the 110 hurdles and placed eighth at the meet with a time of 16.76. He also finished eighth in the high jump, clearing 5-8.

The Mounties' Lily Catelotti was sixth in the discus with a throw of 97-4.
