Taconic Bowlers Edge Pittsfield, Generals Face Showdown with Lee

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- Andrew Robitaille and Mya Duhamel Friday led the Taconic bowling team to a victory that shook up the Berkshire County High School Bowling League standings and set up another big showdown this week at Cove Lanes.
 
The third-place Thunder earned a 2-1 win from Pittsfield. Coupled with a 3-0 win by the Lee varsity squad, the top three teams in the 10-team lague are separated by just two points with two weeks left in the regular season.
 
Lee (20-1), which took over first place on Friday, and second-place PHS (19-2) face off on Friday in week eight of the nine-week season. The Generals will need a win against Lee to make sure they stay ahead of Taconic (18-3) for second place going into the season-ending six-team tournament.
 
The top two teams in the regular season standings get byes through the quarter-finals of the tourney.
 
On Friday, Taconic got a pair of wins from  Duhamel and Robitaille to anchor their victories in the first two games.
 
Pittsfield came back to sweep the best-of-three Baker format games to salvage the point and stay ahead of Taconic in the standings.
 
Robitaille won his two head-to-head games with scores of 257 and 255 for the best series (512) by a league bowler this season.
 
Duhamel rolled games of 184 and 201 for Friday's best series, 285, and a pair of wins.
 
In Game 1, Taconic also got a win from Hunter Golin (183-145--328) to take a 3-2 win.
 
Pittsfield picked up wins from Jason Maguire and Ryan Russo (202-149) in the opener.
 
In Game 2, also a 3-2 Taconic win, the Thunder's Mitchell McCann rolled a 171 to earn a win. Maguire (151-148) and Tyler Vosburg (123-173) earned second-game wins for Pittsfield.
 
In the Lee varsity's 3-0 win, Bella Kotek rolled a 234 for the week's best game among the girls in the league and a 380 series that was second to Duhamel. Aaron Armstrong rolled a 212-167--379.
 
Elsewhere on Friday, Meghan Mongeon rolled a 195-149--344 to lead McCann Tech to a 3-0 win over the Lee Wildcatas.
 
Monument Mountain picked up a 2-1 win over the Lee Black.
 
And Mount Everett earned a 3-0 win over the Lee Orange behind Justin Kempel's 139 game.
 
While Lee and Pittsfield are battling at the top of the league standings this Friday, the seventh-place Eagles will bowl against the Lee Wildcats in their effort to catch the Lee Black for the sixth and final tournament spot.
