Taconic's Robitaille Impresses in Bowling Season Opener

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Andrew Robitaille rolled a 265 game and a 502 series Friday at Cove Lanes to lead the Taconic Thunder to a 3-0 win over McCann Tech on opening day for the Berkshire County High School Bowling League.
 
Robitaille’s two-game total was more than 100 pins better than the day’s other top series.
 
McCann Tech’s Michael Oakes rolled a 233 game and a 391 series, both second in the league.
 
Pittsfield’s Ryan Russo rolled a 216 game and 390 series; the latter tied him with McCann Tech’s Meghan Mongeon, who had the best day among the girls at the Cove with a 197 game and 390 series.
 
Russo led the Generals to a 3-0 win over Mount Everett, which got a 309 series from Mercedes Kosik.
 
Lee also started the season with a 3-0 win over Monument Mountain as Aaron Armstrong (378) and MaKayla Schuerer (361) led the way. Schuerer had the second highest scores among the girls on Friday; teammate Bella Kotek (331) was right behind her.
 
The Spartans were led by Connor Fennely (340).
 
The league returns to Cove Lanes on Wednesday as Mount Everett faces Monument, McCann rolls against the Lee “Black” team, Pittsfield faces the Lee “Orange” team, Taconic faces the Lee JV and Lee’s top squad takes on the Lee Wildcats.
 
Standings: 1. Taconic, Lee, Pittsfield, 3-0; 4. Lee JV, Lee Orange 1-2; 6. Lee Black, Lee Wildcats 1-2; 8. McCann Tech, Mount Everett, Monument Mountain 0-3.
