Taconic, Monument Mountain Wrestlers Open at Athol Tourney

ATHOL, Mass. -- Three Taconic wrestlers Saturday advanced to championship matches at the Bears Invitational.
 
Keishon Martin, Broc Healey and West Dews each made it to the title match, along with Monument Mountain's Ely Cormier.
 
Taconic placed fourth out of 17 teams at the all-day event with 109 points. The Spartans placed seventh with 81 points.
 
Team champion Natick, which had eight wrestlers place first, earned 235.5 points.
 
Dews was pinned in the first round in the 113 pound final by Athol's Isiac Paulino. At 160, Natick's Tucker Vician pinned Healey in the second round. Martin at 285 was pinned by Natanael Torres of Athol.
 
At 132 pounds, Austin Monteiro of Minnechaug outpointed Ely Cormier, 12-6.
 
Three Monument Mountain wrestlers finished their day with victories in third-place matches.
 
Lukas Forouhar Graff pinned Montachusett's Xaedyn Natal in 15 seconds in the 138 final. Sam St. Peter went to the second round before pinning Natick's James Balderson at 220. At 285, Westley Vansant beat Athol's Riley Young, 11-4.
 
Two Taconic wrestlers claimed third-place spots on the podium.
 
At 152, Noah Poirier pinned Miles Keefe of Frontier in 33 seconds. Ben West stopped Frontier's Conner Hoffman midway through the second period.
