Taconic Boys, Hoosac Valley Girls Victorious

CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Sean Harrigan, Ian McGrath and Frank Boua each won a pair of events Saturday to lead the Taconic boys track and field team to victory in a dual meet at Hoosac Valley.

 

In the girls meet, Lilly Boudreau was a triple winner and the Hurricanes dominated the throws to earn the team win.

 

Boudreau won the 200 meters in 27.78 seconds and the 400 hurdles in 1:11.56. Her long jump of 15 feet, ½ inch was nearly two feet better than the field.

 

In the throws, Hanna Shea led the way with wins in the discus (83-5) and shot put (22-10). Hoosac Valley’s Haley McNeice won the javelin with a mark of 62-4. The Hurricanes took eight of nine top-three places in the girls’ throwing events.

 

Taconic’s boys nearly turned the table in their throws, taking seven of nine top-three spots.

 

McGrath led a 1-2-3 sweep for Taconic in the discus with a throw of 100-8. Boua led a 1-2-3 sweep in the shot with a mark of 31-2. Hoosac Valley’s Zachary Hubbard won the javelin, throwing 117-11.

 

Nicholas Alibozek was a triple winner in the boys meet, taking the 400 hurdles (1:05.78), long jump (18-2) and triple jump (37-6).

 

On the track, Hoosac Valley’s boys got a pair of wins from Justin Levesque in the 1600 (4:57.26) and 3200 (10:53.37).

 

Taconic was strong in the sprints, where Harrigan won the 100 (11.78) and Boua the 200 (24.60). Taconic’s McGrath won the 400 in 57.85.

 

Harrigan picked up his second win in the high jump, where he cleared 5-8.
