METHUEN, Mass. -- Taconic senior Dylan Burke carries the county's banner into the second day of the MIAA All-State Wrestling Championships on Saturday at Methuen High School.

Burke earned a pair of decisions in the wrestlebacks on Friday to stay alive in the consolation bracket.

His day started with a 4-2 loss to North Andover's Jack Carbone in the first round of the 195-pound bracket.

Burke came back to top Norwood's Ryan Hsu, 7-1, before earning a major decision against Hanover/Norwell' Jack Long, 9-1.

On Saturday, Burke starts his day against Beverly's Alexi Echevarria.

His teammate Mike LaFreniere won his opener in the 132-pound weight class, pinning Haverhill's Edgar Feliciano with three seconds left in the second period.

But LaFreniere was then pinned to fall into the consys, where he was pinned again by Winchester's Isaac Graylin.

Taconic's Shawn O'Shea, like Burke, started his day Friday with a first-round loss. But O'Shea won, 6-4, over Springfield Central's Steven Warrick in the consys at 220. Longmeadow's Lucas Olson, however, ended O'Shea's tournament with a 4-2 decision.

Mount Everett's Nick Lupiani (106) won his opener in just 23 seconds on Friday, pinning Chelmsford's Isaiah Adams in the first period. But Lupiani dropped his next two.

Zach Lupiani went 2-2 at 126.

After losing his opening match, Zack Lupiani earned second-period pins over Shawsheen's Frank Foti and Franklin Tech's Peter Saladino in the consolation brackets. But Bristol-Plymouth's Liam Norton ended Zack Lupiani's run with an 11-2 decision.

Monument Mountain's Caden O'Rourke (195) and Logan Mead (220) each went 0-2 on Friday, as did Mount Greylock's Jack Rosier at 160.
