Taconic's Burke Fifth at Lowell Holiday Tournament

LOWELL, Mass. -- Taconic's Dylan Burke placed fifth on Saturday at the George Bossi Lowell Holiday Tournament.
 
Burke dropped a narrow, 5-4 decision to Woburn's David Langlois in Saturday's 182-pound quarter-finals to move into the consolation bracket.
 
He then beat Franklin's Dylan Nawn, 5-0, and Fairfield, Conn.'s, John Summers, 3-0, before falling to Danvers' Russell Canova, 4-0.
 
Burke claimed the podium spot with a win over Southington, Conn.'s, Billy Carr.
 
At 195, Taconic's Shawn O'Shea, who started Saturday in the quarter-finals, withdrew from his two matches.
 
Mike LaFreniere won a pair of matches in the consolation bracket on Saturday at 132 before falling to Connor McDonald of Bishop Guertin (N.H.), 4-3, to end LaFreniere's tournament.
 
In the consolation bracket at 220 on Saturday, Taconic's Eric Packard won a pair of matches by pin before forfeiting out of the competition.
 
Taconic finished the two-day tournament in 24th place out of 80 teams with 81 points.
 
Springfield Central won the team title with 177 points, followed by Timberlane, N.H., with 151. Mount Anthony of Bennington, Vt., placed third with 145.5 points; two Patriots won individual titles: Adam Frost at 160 and Sampson Wilkins at 195.
