Mount Everett Icers Come Back to Earn Tie
DANBURY, Conn. -- The Mount Everett hockey team battled back from a 3-0 deficit to earn a 3-3 tie against Bethel/Brookfield/Danbury on Monday afternoon.
The Eagles (1-1-1) found themselves down 2-0 at the end of the first period and gave up a third goal early in the second.
"We came out flat in the first period and were outshot 15-4," Mount Everett coach Aidan Gilligan said. :After the early second period goal by BBD we needed a momentum change.
"Brendan Dempsey scored on a nice feed from Jake Corcoran, and then Brendan followed up the next shift with a good open ice hit. From that point on the team started to play better."
In the third period, Corcoran set up Grayson Duval to make it 3-2, and Nigel Baldwin assisted Matt DiSilva on the tying goal.
Jonah Swotes stopped 37 shots for the Eagles, who were outshot 40-24.
Mount Everett travels to Turners Falls on Saturday.
