Mount Everett Competes at Holyoke Tourney

HOLYOKE, Mass. -- Mount Everett's Diego Cruz won the 113-pound weight class at Saturday's season-opening Knighthawk Classic at Holyoke High School.

 

Cruz earned a 20-12 major decision against West Springfield's Devon Mateo in the title bout to lead the Eagles to 10th place in the 19-team field.

 

West Springfield won the event by a wide margin over runner-up Ludlow.

 

Mount Everett had two other wrestlers on the podium. Ian Lanoue was the runner-up at 157, and Max Manning won the third-place bout at 144.
