County Track and Field Teams Kick Off Season at Williams College
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Wahconah’s Kathryn Perrone and Liam Furlong swept the hurdles on Saturday at the Berkshire County High School Track and Field Kick-Off Meet at Williams College.
The Wahconah students each won in the first heat in the events, modified to 60 meters and 300 meters from the traditional distances (100 and 400 for the girls, 110 and 400 for the boys).
Wahconah’s boys team picked up three more individual titles out of 11 events at the non-scored event.
Payton Shippee won the discus. Cooper Clavert took the triple jump. And Lorenzo Lewis won the 400 dash.
Mount Greylock won four events on the girls side.
Maggie Nichols and Rowan Apotsos went 1-2 in the 100 meters for the Mounties.
Chase Hoey won the high jump by clearing 5 feet, 2 inches on her first attempt. Katherine Goss took the triple jump, and Nora Lopez won the javelin by a margin of nearly 12 feet.
The boys’ jav was decided by just one inch, as Mount Greylock’s Jenner Kittle edged Shippee with a throw of 158-10.
