Mount Everett's Cruz Wrestles to Title in Holyoke

HOLYOKE,Mass. -- Mount Everett's Diego Cruz Saturday registered three pins to win the 106-pound title at the Knighthawk Classic.
 
Cruz pinned Chicopee's Janiah Baez in the second minute of the match in the final round to help the Eagles tie for sixth place in a 14-team field.
 
Mount Everett and Duggan Academy each finishd with 85 points. Saint John's claimed the team title with 172 points.
 
Connor Lupiani pinned Chicopee's Navaeh Santiago in the first period of their 113-pound third-place match. Lupiani went 3-1 on the day for Mount Everett.
 
Mount Everett also claimed third in the 126-pound division, where Tyler Candlari pinned Holyoke's Ethan McClain in the second minute.
