McCann Boys Down Pioneer on Road
SOUTH DEERFIELD, Mass. -- The McCann Tech cross country teams competed in a tri-meet on Tuesday hosted by Frontier and attended by Pioneer.
Frontier's larger team dominated the meet, but McCann ran strong and won over Pioneer, 17-46, claiming first, second, third, fifth and sixth places.
Jerry MCarthy once again placed first for McCann with a very impressive time of 16 minutes, 17 seconds. He was followed by Lukas Yelle at 16:59, Cory Hartley at 17:50, Cameron Anderson at 18:09 and Jake Ostrebinski at 18:52. All five runners who placed are seniors.
On the girls side, McCann Tech was once again unable to score as a team due to injury. The girls ran strong though and had impressive times by three freshman: Hannah Blake finished first with a time of 21:50 and was followed by Aubrey Tetlow at 22:29 and Dakota Hurley at 24:53.
Next week, McCann hosts Franklin Tech Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 4 p.m. at Windsor Lake. This is the last regular season meet for the Hornets and will also be a celebration of the graduating seniors: MCarthy, Yelle, Hartley, Anderson, Obstrebinski and Chris Santella.
