Morin's Even Par Round Highlights Dominating McCann Tech Win
ADAMS, Mass. -- Nash Morin birdied two holes Tuesday to card an even-par round of 34 and lead McCann Tech to a 23-1 win over Sabis at Forest Park Country Club.
Morin reached the green on the 137-yard, par-5 fifth hole and sank his birdie putt.
Then he closed his day with a birdie on the 265-yard, par-4 ninth hole.
He was one of five Hornets to earn a 4-0 match win against his or her opponent.
Dalton Tatro (42), Chris Rose (44), Dylynn Hardee (51) and Owen Vareschi (53) each earned a shutout. At No. 1, Ryan Baran took a 3-1 win from Sabis’ Michael Scoville while carding a 45.
Finishing strong was a theme for the Hornets on Tuesday as they improved to 5-0 this fall.
Tatro ended his round with three straight pars, overcoming a rough start.
Tatro said that playing in a foursome with Baran helped him settle down after opening his round with a bogey and a pair of double bogeys.
“Yes, I was really struggling from the beginning, but then I realized I’m playing with my buddy Ryan Baran, who I grew up with, so I was just gonna have fun with it and try my best, I guess,” Tatro said.
“It was all mental. First hole gets rough, second hole gets a little worse, and you’ve just got to bring it back in and focus on the next holes.”
Tatro’s round turned on the 302-yard, par-4 uphill fourth hole, where he made his first par of the afternoon.
It also is where Baran had his biggest problem of the day, making a seven. But the senior bounced back to give the Hornets four players at 45 or better.
Another strong finisher for McCann Tech was Hardee. She doubled the par-3 fifth but then recorded four straight bogeys.
The Hornets go to Franklin Tech on Thursday.
“I feel really good with where we’re at right now,” Tatro said. “The future’s looking bright for us. I think we have a good chance at State Voc this year.”
