Meehan, Lenox Girls Shine at Taconic Cross Country Meet

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Drury senior Connor Meehan won Wednesday’s cross country race at Berkshire Community College by more than a minute, but host Taconic took the next three places.
 
Meehan finished in 16 minutes, 43 seconds.
 
He was chased across the line by Taconic’s Ryan Serre (17:47), Trevor Pelkey and Jake Paris. Taconic put six runners altogether in the top 10 with Brandon Pelkey, Gabe Carrington and Zabion Powell in seventh through ninth.
 
Monument Mountain’s boys placed three runners in the top 10, led by Jared Henry (18:18) in fifth.
 
Lenox’s boys were led by eighth-graders Ted Yee (18:57) in 11th and Colin Young in 12th.
 
Lee’s Sebastian Dowd-Smith led the Wildcats in 14th with a time of 19:22.
 
Lenox’s girls swamped the field with the top five places led by Emma Jourdain’s 19:03. Maggie Sorrentino, Alice Najimy, Marion Huth and Ellen Huth placed second through fifth. Tate Morrison and Alice Huth cracked the top 10 for Lenox in ninth and 10th, respectively.
 
Monument Mountain got three top 10 finishes, all in a row, from the trio of Meryl Phair (21:02), Maeven Broderick and Jasmin Johnnsdottir.
 
Lee was led by Amber MacDowell (22:34) in 15th. Drury’s Brooke DiGennaro (22:21) was 14th, and Taconic’s Mary Hayes (23:12) was 20th.
