Lee High Girls Cross Country Earns Dual Win at Mount Greylock
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Freshman Brianna Kelly finished 23rd overall Thursday to lead the Lee girls cross country team to a 25-30 win over Hoosac Valley at Mount Greylock.
Five teams were in action in the first home meet of the season for the Mounties, who picked up a pair of wins on the girls’ and boys’ sides with first-place finishes from Josephine Smith (19 minutes, 17.63 seconds) and Jesse Seid (16:55.43).
Lee’s Kelly finished in 22:21.40, just ahead of teammates Amber MacDowell (26th) and Anna Martin (28th).
Hoosac Valley’s girls got a 20th-place finish from Natiya Cilli (22:17.33).
Lenox’s girls won their only dual meet of the day, topping Pittsfield behind three runners in the top six, led by Ellen Huth (19:48.92). Pittsfield’s Cami Diehl led the Generals, finishing ninth in 21:02.80.
Mount Greylock’s Smith was followed across the line by teammate Katherine Swann (19:33.28) as the Mounties placed five girls in the top eight positions.
Mount Greylock’s boys placed six in the top eight. After Seid came teammates Oliver Swabey (17:11.67) and Josh Cheung (17:11.85).
The first non-Mountie across the line in the boys race was Lenox’s Colin Young (17:33.12) in fourth. The Millionaires won their dual against Pittsfield, which got a 13th-place showing from Anthony Hunt (18:51.18).
Lee’s boys defeated Hoosac Valley behind a 10th-place finish from Sebastian Dowd-Smith (18:45.33). Hoosac Valley was led by Justin Levesque, who placed 29th in 20:02.69.
