Wahconah Downs Mount Greylock in Five Sets
DALTON, Mass. – Emma Jacinto put down two kills to give Wahconah a 16-14 win in the fifth set and a 3-2 win over Mount Greylock on Friday night.
Jacinto finished with nine kills in the 21-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-21, 16-14 win.
Wahconah fended off a match point with a sideout at 14-13 and got the next two points to end an epic battle.
Megan O’Bryan had a double-double with 18 kills and 21 digs. Eve Colombari passed out 36 assists, and Taea Cunagin had seven kills and 12 digs in the win. Olivia Carr-Cole and Alexandra Rougeau finished with 16 and 12 digs, respectively, and Amelia Sturz put down six kills.
For Mount Greylock, Annabelle Coody had 10 kills and served seven aces. Kylie Sweren finished with eight kills and four aces. Olivia Perez put down nine kills, and Emily Alvarez pulled up 28 digs.
Wahconah finishes the regular season 11-7. Mount Greylock is 14-3.
Both teams learn on Saturday who they will face in the quarter-finals of their respective Western Massachusetts tournaments, Wahconah in Class B and Mount Greylock in Class C.
