Lenox vs. Lee Round No. 2 is a distinct possibility in the Division 5 volleyball state tournament.

Lenox Memorial held down the No. 7 seed in the state when the brackets were released on Wednesday afternoon by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association.

The Lee Wildcats are seeded 10th in the 46-team field.

Both are waiting to learn who they will play in the Round of 32.

But if they win those games at home, the Millionaires and Wildcats would square off against one another in the Sweet 16 for a berth in the state quarter-finals next week.

The teams played a five-set thriller that went to the Millionaires back on Oct. 7.

Lee next plays the winner of the preliminary round game between Pioneer Valley Christian and Excel Boston’s Excel Academy. Lenox will host the winner of a prelim round game between Academy of Notre Dame (Tyngsborough) and Boston’s English High.

On the other side of the D5 bracket, defending state champion Mount Greylock is seeded fourth.

The Mounties will face either Mystic Valley Regional Charter (Malden) or Charlestown in the Round of 32.

Just 35 teams qualified for the state tournament in Division 4; the tournament draws the top 32 teams in the state’s power rankings plus teams with a .500 record that finish ranked 33rd or lower.

Wahconah captured the No. 10 seed in D4 and will host Boston Latin Academy in a first-round game on Saturday evening.

Up in Division 3, the Taconic Thunder qualified with the 41st seed and will hit the road for a preliminary round game at Danvers.

Neither Monument Mountain nor Pittsfield qualified for the state tournament in Division 4. Mount Everett did not qualify for the state playoffs in D5.
