BELCHERTOWN, Mass. – Ella Stodden and Janayah Jones each had a double-double Thursday to lead the Taconic volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Belchertown in the teams’ regular-season finale.

Stodden finished with 24 assists and 15 digs to go with four kills in a 25-20, 16-25, 25-17, 25-22 win.

Jones put down 10 kills and pulled up 13 digs while adding two assists.

“Tonight's win was really important to us partly because we lost to Belchertown last season in the Western Mass tournament and then again in the State Tournament, but also because we've known that we can compete and beat teams with higher rankings than us,” Taconic coach Lance Fyfe said. It was a real confidence booster and happened just when we needed it too, as we prepare for the State Tournament first round next week. We will be facing a team with a similar rank to Belchertown and we have a really good shot at pulling off an upset.”

Jadyn Galliher had nine kills, and Sophie Aubin had a team-high 16 digs.

“Also notable and key to our win tonight were the strong defensive efforts by Aliyah DelSonno with nine digs and Lexi Murphy Malloy with eight digs,” Fyfe said. “They also made a huge impact on our success with their consistency in serving. Defense creates offense, and they deserve a lot of credit.”
